Default Help

My hair is falling out. Little bits at a time. I mostly notice it when I am showering or brushing my hair. What do I do? I have alot of hair its naturally really thick but this is freaking me out. I am losing weight and taking Met which is making my AF start to be semi normal. Still painful but what is going on with my hair?? Is the Met doing it my hair dresser said that different meds do it and I should consult my doctor. Also I don't know why but lately I am severly dizzy all the time and I don't know what to do. Dizzy to the point I can barely keep myself from passing out. I don't know what it is and what to do. I missed my meds one day on accident but that wouldn't make me stay dizzy once I caught up. I don't know whats going on. Please help me I am truly freaking out(crying now). Anything would help.

Awwwwwwww don't cry. My hair was falling out pretty fast but it has slowed a lot lately to what I consider to be less than normal hair loss. Anything above 100 hairs a day is bad I think. My doc said it was do to a sudden change of weight and hormones. This happened after I started met and was dieting. Hopefully its the same for you and you will soon see less falling out

It'll be ok We are all going through such craziness right now. Have you consulted your dr again? It might be good just to talk about it. I know this is hard, and I'm not offering much advice, but I just wanted to tell you that you aren't alone.

WEight loss can cause hair to shed ...

If you notice that your losing a lot of hair its always best to go see a doc or dermatologist (if poss) asap just ot put your mind at rest

I was losing tons of hair from puberty and did nothign about it until it got obvious when I was 31 and now I have left it too late and am diagnosed with male pattern baldness....

Some people claim that Met can cause hair loss .....

Unhappy

Hi Christina,
I agree with the other ladies, please call your doctor or set up an appointment to speak with him about your concerns. No one should try to walk around dizzy all the time! (((hugs))) Your med dose might need to be adjusted or it could be a thousand different things. They will help set you straight.

About hair loss... as others have said, hormone shifts and losing weight can definitely trigger it. If it puts your mind at ease any, I've had episodes of extreme hair loss off and on since puberty for various reasons and, except for the one brought on by Accutane, my hair always bounced back eventually. My hairdresser once told me that everyone goes through a major shedding phase about every seven years that can be very distressing, but it is a normal function of our bodies. Once again, your doctor should be able to help you figure out what is going on and what to do about it.

My mother also lost quite a bit of her hair volume while on met. It was so bad you could easily see her scalp through her hair. Now that she has changed to Glucovance I've noticed that her hair looks much, much better and is thicker again. Strange things can cause hair loss and it isn't always permanent!

Big ((((hugs)))))!
Dana
