Exclamation Help!!

I think I may have pcos but im not sure. I always had horable periods from the time they started. I was put on birth control pills when I was 14 to help control them. I did switch brands a few times. I recently thought (well about a year and half ago) I was pregnant because I had missed my scheduled period, so I stoped my pills. Well after neumorus tests it turned out that I was not. I just never started the pills back up because I wanted to try and get pregnant.

My fioncee kinda started to mention that my sexual drive was dimminishing now. I just blamed it on the pills. Well it has been almost 2 years now and I have maybe hade 4 periods in this time. I noticed a while back that I started to grow sideburns and thick hair on my chin line and neck. also down my back. I have awfull mood swings.

I have read some stuff on here but I was just wondering if anyone else has had the loss of there sex drive. I have not been offically diagnosed with pcos but im pretty sure thats what I have. I have an obgyn appointment the 1st of June and it cant get here soon enough. My biggest fear is not being able to have a child. I know its not the end of the world but I want one so very bad. Everyone around me is pregnant, all my friends from school have children now and when I see them they always ask where is my child at, why after 6 years CH and I are not married or any kids.

My family Dr would tell me that I was just stressed and being overwight can cause loss of period. I cant talk to her about stopping the pill because she is like my second mom. She fusses at me because I am overweight and she tells me I shouldnt even think about having a child untill I loose some weight. No matter what I do I can not get rid of it. I loose maybe 20lbs but thats it. I hope I can figure out whats wrong with me so maybe I can get my life back on track.

If anyone has any information on what I should ask a Dr or what kind of Dr I should go to please let me know.

Welcome to Soulcysters! I too experienced decreased libido as my other symptoms surfaced and became more pronounced. You seem to have many of the classic symptoms. As for what questions you should ask your Doctor, there's a great sticky thread on the Newbie Issues topic: http://www.soulcysters.net/6529-prep...ur-doctor.html

Most women see either an OB/GYN or an RE (reproductive endocrinologist) or both. An RE would be able to help you a bit more with the hormone balancing part of it, which is the root of most of your symptoms. Some OB/GYNs are also knowledgeable enough to help you with that side of it. You'll have to get a referral for an RE if that's the route you decide to go with.

Welcome to SC
Your chances of becoming infertile are higher with a condition like endometriosis I believe.
My doc told me the same thing over and over for years that I was just stressed and overweight for any other reason besides PCOS--turned out to be false. There really is no way to officially diagnose PCOS, except through a laparoscopy. Check out the links on the home page here and Kat's story, hopefully it can all give you some more info.

Hang in there and let us know how it goes with your doc.
