Default Help

Hi all! I'm pretty new to this site and boy do I need some help. I have been on MET for 3 mths now and I just got my first BFP yesterday. I have my first appointment with the nurse at my gyno's office on Aug. 1st. So my question is, has anyone stopped taking MET as soon as they found out they were pregnant and carried to full term? My gyno told me he would want me to stay on the MET until I reach 15 wks., but my endo told me to stop as soon as I find out I'm pregnant. He told me it owuld be a good idea since I have never miscarried before. I don't want to stop taking it and then miscary. I'm so confused!?! If he does want to take me off the mET should I ask for a progesterone supp? Since I have been on the MET my hormones and all have gone back to normal fairly quick. Please any advise would be greatly appreciated

I would do what the GYNO wants cause that is who will helping during the PG. I know that my GYNO said that if I get PG I should stay on the MET to help with the PG. Congrats on the BFP.

I would stay on it too. I stayed on throughout my entire pregnancy and dd is perfectly healthy. Since there is a 68% drop in first tri m/c with met and there is no harm in staying on it, I would definitely listen to the gyno.

I used Met/Clomid to get pregnant w/ my DD (who's now 13 mo) and stayed on the Met until about 4 months after she was born. Nothing wrong with her! They use it safely in Europe, and my perinatologist preferred me to stay on it so I didn't grow me a big ole sugar baby.

I'm with the others. I know it is a catagory "b" drug, but it does help reduce the risk of miscarriage and I've researched like crazy and there are no direct links with problems from staying on it. Good luck and CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!!!

If you go to the FAQ thread, there is info on met and pregnancy. It is something you'll need to discuss and decide with your Dr, but the studies on women taking met during pregnancy might help you with your decision.

FAQ About Metformin

FAQ #7 is "Should I stop Met or stay on it when I get pregnant?" Hope it helps.

All the best!
