I've suspected I've had PCOS for over a year now, but the endocrinologist I went to says that my blood tests were inconclusive. I have a twin sister who was diagnosed with it, and I have all the symptoms of it - irregular periods (I've had that my whole live) excessive facial hair, and acne. I'm getting married in 5 months and I'd love to start on a regimen that would help clear my skin and get rid of some of my facial hair. I am going to my dermatologist and gynecologist this week, so can anyone recommend a combination of birth control and acne medication that has worked for them? Thanks!
Just wanted to say hello and welcome. Glad to hear you have appointments with the derm and gyn this week, you may want to see another endocrinologist if you're not satifsied with the answers you're getting. There are medication and acne threads on this site as well, hope you find all the info and support you need!

Definitely ask about Metformin. It's used to treat Insulin resistence but you don't have to be IR to take it. With any luck it will regulate your periods. Have your testosterone checked...Spiro can help with that and with the hair and acne.
If you just take BC ask about Yasmin, or maybe it's Yaz, I forget...one or the other has Spiro as an ingredient so that could help too.

Welcome and congrats on your upcoming wedding. I would suggest staying away from BCP. They can do more harm than good..especially in the long term. A better option would be metformin. I would suggest finding a new doctor too. Sounds like PCOS to me..and it's important to get that diagnosis to start proper treatment. Many PCOSers test normal on all bloodwork and even ultrasounds. However, they still respond to proper treatment. Keep in mind....a low carb diet and exercise are also very important. Good luck and again..welcome!
