Angry Help!!!!!!

Ok I'm am new to this site and iam realllly down and don't know what to do! I was dx when I was 18 and I am now 21, the only reason my dr dx me is beacuse I asked her about it and she said yes I had it, she never gave me any medicine and told me if I wanted info on it I had to research it on the internet. I have a really bad case of it, like hair EVERYWHERE! Literally! Its bad! I haven't had a period EVER unless I was on birth control. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of all this hair! Also me and my husband want to have a baby but it hasent happend. Does anyone know how I can make it possible without fertility drugs? Please someone help me!!! Iam desperate!!

Hey! I just wanted to say, if you do have PCOS, the hair growth is hard to get rid of..it's just part of it, but it can ease up if you take meds for pcos..they aren't necessarily fertility drugs but they can help you conceive. Metformin is the drug I see just about everyone taking. Everyone is different, but it helped me before with alot of symptoms. Research it, and ask your doctor to perform blood tests so that you can see how everything is going with your body & exactly what meds you may need. Hope this helped a little!

Hi I also have PCOS..... I to have hair everywhere, theres not really anything you can do about it. I bleach and wax the visable hair.

My husband and I also want to have a baby, I stopped taking BC in may in hopes to concieve it hasn't happened yet in March im going to start clomid I think. I was told to lose weigh, over a year ago for my health and PCOS. SO I have lost over 60lbs now in 10 months, in hopes that it would help. I'm the same as you though I don't get a period unless I'm on birth control... but, birth control and me don't get along AT ALL! So for woman with PCOS like us its going to be VERY hard to concieve with no medication. (my thoughts only) I'm not a DR. LOL!

The only other thing that I can think of to help with the hair is Spironlactone and metformin there two medications that are used for PCOS patients. They help with concieving and sometimes they will lighten the hair and even slow the growth process down. I can NOT take metformin my system can't handle it. As for spironlactone I was told not to take it while trying to concieve by the DR. I have never tryed spironlactone though so I'm not sure how effective it is.

Hope I helped ...... GOOD luck!

Hey,

First of all dont get yourself down about it, i know its easier said than done but stress is no good for you.

I also have the hair problem too.. I was diagnosed a month ago but i knew i had pcos from when i was 17 i just wasnt brave enough to go to a doctor in all that time (im now 21)

You should book an appointment in with your DR again and get a proper diagnosis from them IE, Blood tests and a ultrasound scan, and then they can decide with you what medication to put you on.
From what you have said about your DR just saying you have it and not helping you if they still dont help you then please see a different doctor.
Not alot of Dr's understand PCOS it seems, my dr is good as far as trying to help me get pcos under control she had me have blood tests done to measure my hormone levels and rule out thyroid problems and then had a ultrasound booked and as soon as she got my results called me in to discuss medication and has put me on metformin, but im pretty sure that i know more on pcos than her due to all the research i have done over the years.

So please get that appointment and get a doctor that cares about your well being!!!

If your doctor doesn't seem to give you the proper information, make an appointment with an endodontist. Make sure you are seeing a female doctor too. I find that females know the "plumbing" much more, being as they are also female. I have hair that grows fast. I can shave my legs and within 12-15 hours I have picky legs again. It's horrible. My prayers are with you while you go through this.
