Hi all
wanting to start birth control pills again, in hopes that it will help with my pcos mood swings and weight gain. Can you please inform me of the best bcp out there for women with pcos that will help with some of the pcos issues. thanks so much
BCPs are prescribed based on your unique combo of hormone levels. The links above will point you to the most common ones us Cysters take. But your doctor needs to recommend what's best for you. Personally, would ask the doc how many PCOS patients she has and which pills seem to have worked best, etc. I'm been on Demulen (or the generic Zovia) for 20 yrs -- I've never switched pills.
Everyone is different. I've tried some BCPs that have been horrible for me, but others here have had great success with it, so it really depends on you. Personally, I've noticed that triphasic pills are horrible for me, so I stick with monophasic pills. I happen to like pills with norethindrone and ethinyl estradiol. I basically have the least side effects with them and I use Necon.

Thanks ladies. I've been searching the net the past week for the same information. My OB/GYN says all BCPs are the same, so he'll prescribe whatever is convenient for me with no further thought or scientific process. I've been on the Ortho-Evra Patch the longest cause it is most convenient, but it is also most expensive (no generic) and one of the most dangerous (poss blood clots). However, due to insurance changes, I'd recently asked for something cheaper so he gave me generic Ortho-Tri-Cyclen - even though nearly every medical website and most of the SoulCyster posts say that tri-phasic BCPs are counter-productive to excessive androgen and estrogen levels (causing extreme mood swings & spotting).
I will definitely check with my Endocrinologist when I see him this Wednesday for my check-up/profile. Smile88, I sincerely appreciate your posting this question.
