Question HELP..can't pick an alt med treatment plan

I am reading so many different things that honestly I don't know what to take.

I am looking for a good mulitvitamin that is good for women with PCOS.

I am also looking for some supplements to take /how much to take and when (morn/night) to take that will be ok with my Metformin. I am looking for stuff to help with hair loss (on my head) and too much hair (on my face), need help to losing weight, IR, mood, anxiety, all the regular PCOS stuff.

Can anyone recommend a list of these things that work for them???

I seriously have lists and lists of things I read about and know it isn't ok to take them all so I really need to break this down to what works best.

Thank you soooo much, in advance, for ANY help.

Jessica

Default My mum's plan

Hiya,

I can only speak for myself. I have more or less the same symptoms as you have (i.e. IR, excess body and facial hair, thin scalp hair, I'm overweight, so on).

I have cinnamon every day (500 mg) with lunch and dinner and a prickly pear cactus smoothie before breakfast. I also take saw palmetto for my excess hair 1 extract capsule before breakfast.

About met... my mum's on met and her GP said that it was ok for her to have the smoothie before breakfast (lots of fiber) and didn't say anything about the saw palmetto either. However, he didn't really agree on the cinnamon capsules.

Maybe you should discuss it with your GP and see what he says about supplements.

Everyone is different, so you need to find what works best for you. I also have IR, excess body hair (mostly facial), thin hair on scalp, weight issues, etc. I take vitex, cinnamon, hyponidd, and a few others that I like. I think that vitex is a blessing for helping with the hormonal issues. Recently I added the flax seed and hyponidd, and I like both of those a lot. Perhaps you should start with one or two and go from there. I would definately recommend the vitex to start.

As for cinnamon and met - well, my mom is an insulin dependant diabetic and she takes both at the recommendation of her doctor. However, I am on no chemicals (only herbs) so I can't comment on that. I think it depends on your doctor as to what they would recommend to you.

you wrote that you were only on herbs, no chemicals. i am very much interested in following that route myself. what are some first steps i can take to start? i haven't been on any meds since 2005, but have been diagnosed with PCOS. any links or help would be wonderful!
