Default help with clomid!! please

hi, looking for some advice! i've just been put on clomid, still a bit confused. I'm on provera at the moment for 10 days and have to start taking the clomid on day 2 of my period! how do i work it all out, when is the best time to try?

the doctor will only put me on the clomid for 6 months and if that does not work then i have to have some injections?? they cost bout £500? then i am only allowed those for 6 months and if that does not work then its ivf?

the options really don't seem great and the doctors are not that great either, i have looked up on the net and have found quite a bit out but it all seems to suggest different times?

i am hoping that someone will know the answer to my questions?

thanking you loads in advance!!!

Each doctor has their own way of giving Clomid (what time, what days, what dose etc) It doesnt really mean anything. It's just what worked best for them in their personal practice/experience. The only thing I would really suggest with Clomid is take it at night (I believe it helps with the side effects) Read all you can- it will keep you busy and you will know will know what the side effects are and what the danger signs look like. Good luck and loads of baby dust *~*~*~*~*

Hi Fluff
Here's a link to my post when i was given Clomid -
I got Clomid!!!

It worked for me on the second cycle, so don't feel it's not a possiblilty. I would suggest that you start to chart your cycle, have you read "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler? It's a must read if you're trying to pinpoint the best days to conceive and was my bible. You can get it on Amazon for about £17, but it's soooooo worth every penny.

A good place to chart your cycle is on http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ where you can chart for free and it will iron out the discrepancies in time etc.

I agree with Sugarbug, take it at night, I had so few side effects, but I think I probably slept through any I had. Also try to have intercourse every other day from about day 9/10 of your cycle until you are sure you have ovulated. This may not happen on or around day 14, even on Clomid, but by charting you'll see when it has happened.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!
