i have lost count of how many days i have been on my period.
i know its been since before christmas.
i know that its heavy some days, light and almost non existant others.
lots of clots, some dark blood, lots of bright red blood.
i was just laying in bed, with a pad on and ifelt this huge surge of wetness, i think oh sh*t run to the bathroom, and it was bright red blood.
i have been bleeding through tampons really fast at times, and hardly any other times. so im jsut having gushes of bright red blood.
and when its not bright red, it has huge clots.
these go on for weeks. go away for about 2-3 weeks, and come back again.
any ideas?

I feel for you, I went through the same thing! I had such bad bleeding at work my sister had to bring me new pants - embarassing!!!!
The Dr. just put me on 2 progesterone a day to stop the bleeding, it took almost 6-7 days for it to stop. I have since then been put on only Metformin and that seems to have slowed it down significantly as well. You need to get it taken care of asap though, the first time I waited too long and I had to go see a hematologist because my iron was so far down I almost needed a transfusion. If you can't see a Dr. start taking iron to replace the loss. I was prescribed over the counter iron and I took 2 pills a day.
Good luck, it is frustrating I know, I joked that I was going to have to buy stock in Tampax since I could go through a box of super plus in 2 days!

Sounds like your experience over christmas was identical to mine. I have been having heavier periods for about a year now,but i started one before christmas, and it was light, then heavy and clotted then, one day a huge gush of red blood and a large clot, that scared me to death.Thank goodness i was at home or i would have had to get someone to bring me cloths. Is heavy periods a sign of pcos? I am putting a call into my gyn, i feel like something is wrong. I am still spotting eveyday.I really want to get to the bottom of this.It afffects the quality of life.I know how you feel...the unpredictable bleeding is not comfortable, and scary.Keep as posted as i will too.

I had the same problem back in 2007. At the beggining I thought it was just my period, but it was exactly how you described it.... crazy! After two weeks the Dr. finally saw me and sent me birth control pills, heavy dose daily... like 4 pills a day. to stop the bleeding. the Dr. requested me to see him back in two weeks. but in the first week, I felt so weak and the blood kept on non-stop. Went to urgent care, Dr. took my blood pressure, which was all different from laying down, sitting and standing up. I was border line anemic. Dr. at urgent care sent me to ER. ER dr. told me to go back to gyno and so gyno scheduled me for a DNC, and put me on birth control pills as treatment to get a regular periods after surgery, I bled all together for almost three months. Defenitely try to get to the Dr. soon. it is not a good experience.
