Exclamation Help! A Cyst About to Rupture?

My last exam at my endo/gyno was back in May and I was told I had a cyst (not the typical smaller PCOS cyst) on my right ovary. It was seen on ultrasound and felt manually. It had never bothered me before. For the last three weeks I've had some UTI symptoms...just pressure, frequent urination, going in small amounts. I had a test for a UTI with my PCP and it was negative. For about the last two weeks I've had pain almost all day in my right ovary. There's pressure, soreness, and a stabbing burning. Somtimes a big pinching pain that comes and goes. It seems worse at night, even keeping me up. Not so horrible that I'm doubled over in pain or anything. I'm on blood thinners and I'm worried my cyst may be growing or getting ready to rupture. Is there any greater danger to this if you are on blood thinners? I live in a small town and travel 300 miles to visit most of my doctors. My wonderful gyno in this town just moved, so I don't really have a nearby doc. I don't feel comfy having my PCP feel around up in there. Should I seek attention or just wait and see?

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Lori

there's nothing they can really do for you when a cyst ruptures. I think I just had one rupture a few weeks ago too...sounds a lot like what you're going through. I basically lived on pain meds, watching the clock for when I could take the next dose. it's still achy, but much better than it was even a week ago.

the fact that you are on blood thinners makes me think you should at least call your dr...my dad was on coumadin for many years, so I know that it's nothing to mess with.

take care.

How big is the cyst?

I had a cyst on my right ovary when I was aged 12/13, which was quite large (about the size of a tangerine) and it had to be removed as the type I had was dangerous if it ruptured. I had been haemorraghing (sp?) badly for some time - I was bleeding/flooding blood whether I was standing up or lying down. My stomach was very swollen as if I were pregnant, I had the stretch marks a pregnant woman gets and I was in a lot of pain.

Personally if I were you, I would at least try and speak to your doctor on the telephone and explain the new developments and see what is advised.

Good luck!
