Not sure if it is a stupid, stinking, dumb, pcos thing or not. ( i am having a horrible PCOS day)
But any way i know that we are all supposed to have BIG BELLYS, but mine is flabby on the bottom and high on top, like i am pregnant. I had a friend i have not seen in a year, and she came up to me and put her hand on my belly and said...... Are we expecting????
I wanted to die.
Not only does it make me feel like ****, but it then makes me remember the fact that I am not pregnant and i want to more than anything in the world. i almost want to start screaming and crying and throw a temper tantrum... like if i do a baby will appear or something.
Anyways back to the thread... PLEASE tell me that someone else has a babyless pregnant belly.............

I asked DH the other day if I looked pregnant and he refused to comment. My aunt looked like she was pregnant, though thin everywhere else over 15 years after her last child was born. Metformin can help with stomach loss I think. IR makes us put weight on in the belly area.
Are you sure you don't have fibroids? Mine made me look like I was 4 months pregnant - especially since one them weight about 4 pounds and was the size of a baby's head.(and I didn't have any symptoms).
Even now, I bloat kind of badly before af. My waistline is on the mall side, but my 'profile' reveals a belly that I'm not happy with.

I believe I got the pregnant belly look at times, especially if I am feeling bloated or have over eaten. It just puffs out like that. It's just the PCOS, we all carry the weight around our middles and being that some of us look skinnier in other parts of our bodies, people may assume we're pregnant. I got skinny legs, arms and face, and a big fat butt and giant belly.

Yupppp, I can sympathize. I have fairly skinny legs and thighs, no butt, no hips, etc. I carry all my weight in my stomach area, so I suppose I could look pregnant. I think I need to start exercising more haha.

I get bloated easily, even without eating a lot. Whenever I eat dinner with my little brother, afterwards we see how fat we can make our bellies and we compare our "food babies." I know it sounds ridiculous, but hey - I can't ever stay mature around my little brother! I always revert back to a 15 year old...lol
Anyway, that came about because once he said that I looked pregnant. And really, I do sometimes. But I just suck it in a move on. Plus, sucking your belly in a bit is part of good posture - that's what I tell myself
On those big days (like today!), I just throw on low-rise jeans and an oversized sweater so no one can see.

I've got it too, I've had it for as long as I can remember (well, not that long, maybe since I was 12..?) & no matter what I do it doesn't go away, so I just live with it (& wear clothes that hide it)

“The neighborhoods we lived in [f] sucked. I went through four TVs and five VCRs in two years.”
I too have the babyless pregnant belly. I have lost a lot of weight and currently in "normal" BMI (5'7", 145-150 lbs). I was confidant and generally feeling good about myself until my nephew asked me if I was going to have a baby (aaahhhh... kids!). I realized that I just wasn't losing my "spare tire." So I went crazy with the sit-ups, crunches, and any other ab-buster move I could think of. I did lose a couple of inches, but OMG it was such hard work! So at my last ObGyn appt., I ask why, since I've lost so much weight, was so much of it adhering steadfast to my gut? She said that gaining the weight is a result of PCOS, but keeping it around the waistline is a result of IR. She suggested I stick to my diet (low carb/low sugar) and exercise, but take into consideration that it will take more time for me to lose the weight than the average person.
So that pretty much sux! Patience is a virtue, and I have NO patience.
I'll keep y'all updated on the belly bulge...
Good luck to you all!
Tarita

That was her advice?!?!?!
PCOS doesn't induce weight gain in all women, and typically it just magnifies the effects of bad habits. It rarely triggers massive weight gain, in active women with good diets.
As far as the weight loss, you've already lost a lot of weight. Some of what you're experiencing is simply genetic. This is something that isn't easliy overcome.
As far as the IR...Did she recommend anything to bring your IR under control (ie Strength training)(not that a Gyn would know anything about that, but check the article in D&E on strength training vs cardio for controlling insulin resistance)
In other words, instead of 'losing weight' to bring the insulin resistance under control...bring the insulin resistance under control to help control the belly fat.
Also, while core training like Pilates won't affect the fat on the belly, it can dramatically tighten up the muscles in that area to make it smaller.

Your definitely not alone I have a huge belly that makes me look like I am pregnant and I hate it. I have always had a belly its just my shape (short, big boobs, big belly). But over time as my weight had shot up it seems to have all gone onto my boobs and belly. The worse thing is people can be extremely stupid with questions and comments which just make you feel like rubbish (and yep I am having a bad PCOS day !!! ah ah ah). So my sympathy is with you. Did you poke your old friend in the eye ?? I would have !! At least it could have brightened your day up !!
