help which dr in FLORIDA,reproductive medicine group, or florida fertility institute
I am looking for a good RE one that will help me out, and not blow me off. I don't have much money and I am paying for this out of pocket. I need a dr that will prescrible me met even though im not IR..... Does anyone know anything about either of these offices or any drs in them??

Hello Candace! I am currently working with THE REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE GROUP (www.floridafertility.com) in Tampa. I have been working with them since Jan 2005. I just got diagnosed with PCOS on 02/28/05. After I have surgery (uterine fibroid removal, partial septum removal, lap for possible endo and ovarian drilling for PCO) I am going to start Metformin. I am terrified about the surgery, but really excited about starting Met, as I have heard some WONDERFUL things about it. I am a "thin cyster" but my bloodwork and ovaries show PCO/S. I recommend this group HIGHLY while TTC. I don't believe they treat PCOS -AFTER- TTC, so I will need to find an OB/GYN willing to treat me for PCOS afterwards.
Hope this helps...
Take care and good luck,
Lauren

thank you sooo much for replying!! I have an appt with them on the first of april, Its with dr. taranito, from what the receptionist says he is the only dr their that will see someone who isn't TTC, although I am, I just want to try met before I go with more $$ treatments.
do you mind if i ask who your seeing?
I have found a really great OBGYN, although she wont give me met if i'm not IR, but other than that I really like her! If you want some more info about her PM me.
Good luck with your surgery!!

I'm glad you chose RMG... I think you will really like it there. I'm currently working with Dr Goodman (the only female physician in the group). I've always had female physicians, so it seemed like the best choice for me. I am so excited to hear that Dr Tarantino will see non-TTC patients. I would like to also be treated for PCOS after my TTC venture!
Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? What symptoms do you have? How old are you? (I have a million questions! LOL)
Stay in touch!
Lauren

I am really excited about the appt. I was surprised that someone would see me even though im not going to be on fertility meds just yet (hopefully we won't have too!!). I tried to get an appt with dr. goodman, but the receptionist said she would only see me if i wanted to start out with clomid, and I would really like to try glucophage first. I would much rather have a female dr, but since i don't really have a choice, i'm okay about seeing taratino, i hear really good things about him!
I was diagnosed with PCOS about 7 years ago. I have a lil extra facial hair (upper lip), acne, and VERY speratic periods I think i have gotten 2 a year at the most. I'm a thin cyster, although I could stand to lose a few lbs. I don't think I'm IR, i've had a fasting insulin test (came back at 8) but i would like to get a GTT to see for sure if i am or not. Personally I think I have a mild case of it. and i'm 21.
what about you? are you in the tampa bay area?

Sorry I didn't get back to you right away. I'm just getting over the flu... ugh! Anyways, to answer your questions... I live in Brandon (East of Tampa)... I'm 34 (Yes, my clock is TICKING! LOL) As far as PCOS, I was very recently diagnosed. My BIGGEST symptom is long, irregular cycles. I am also a "thin cyster" so I think the Dr doubted PCOS until she saw my enlarged ovaries and my lab work came back out of whack. My estrogen is high and my LH:FSH is 2:1. My younger sister was diagnosed with PCOS too. She has very irregular periods as well, but she has luckily managed to have 2 very cute and healthy boys! So, there is HOPE!
Ok, keep me posted on your appt on Apr 1!
Take care,
Lauren
