Default help, feeling too shy

there's a meet going ahead on a nother forum i use tomorrow. i want to go because i know 4 of the people going already in real life and i'm sure the people i only know online are going to be lovely.

BUT i'm already feeling scared and sick about it. i just don't want to go. i figure i'm too fat, that people will hate me, that i'll be left out of conversations or that i'll make a complete tit of myself saying something inappropriate.

should i go or not?

If you already know 4 of the people going then I would say go for it! After all, you dont have to talk to anyone else, you can always stay on "safe" territory with the people you know.... if you feel braver on the day then branch out and talk to other people.
When you get home tomorrow evening you will feel so proud of yourself that you did it!

that's true, you could always stay with the people you know. I soooo know what you mean though - i can be really shy in 'real life' too.

I'm sure everyone will be lovely, and probably all as nervous as you about the meet. How did it go?

I'm from Preston as well

thanks guys

i plucked up the courage and went, and we had quite a good day! some people left after lunch so it was nicer with fewer people (we were down to 10) then a nasty lady at a cafe had a huge go at one couple with us for sitting at one of her tables, drinking drinks bought at her cafe but eating an ice cream from the shop next door, even tho she didn't sell ice creams. so unfortunately that couple got upset and went home. i then went to a pot painting place with a lady i knew already and painted a milk jug - it'll be ready in 3 days! - and the others went shopping. we met up and had a chat and then went home.

i'm knackered but really glad i went! thanks for your replies guys......

how long have you lived in sunny preston tabytha? we've been here less than a year so still finding our way around!

I am just reading what you wrote and your initial fears before going and there are so many instances in which I feel like this. I am so happy for you that things went so well! If you had'nt have went it seems you would have missed out on a lot of fun.

It's funny, because we can have such a hard time accepting ourselves, we figure that other people will not accept us either.

What you did took alot of courage stepping outside of your comfort zone, I hope you are really proud of yourself!

Glad to hear it went well. I've been in Preston five years, it's alright as a place to live, could be a lot worse!

i really don't go out much anymore, and i only really socialise with my family. it started with me moving away from home and not having enough money to go out 2 years ago. however since then, thanks to undiagnosed PCOS i've put on 5 stone - despite diet and exercise - so now i just don't want to go out.

i hate PCOS.
