Can someone help me? It's Sunday and I am not sure if I'm overreacting or if I really am having a problem.
I was diagnosed with PCOS last fall, and have been on 1500 mg/day glucophage since September. I have been feeling much better on the glucophage and have lost some weight -- otherwise, no huge side effects.
I've had 21-day cycle periods since glucophage, and they have been really regular (!) -- however, this week, I was a week late with my period (I thought I might be pg, so I took a test, and it came out negative a couple days ago).
Sorry for being graphic:
My period usually starts with some spotting, but yesterday, it started with a gush. I have had major cramping since yesterday. I use the keeper (which holds about 1 ounce) and I have had to change it every two hours since morning today. It's 2:30pm, I've been bleeding like this since dawn...
Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem? Is this just a "normal heavyish AF?" Could this be a mc (even though the test came out negative and I was only a week late)?

It is possible that this is a miscarriage, but I would highly doubt it. Normally when u are a week late on ur period, there is enough of the hormone in ur system to pop positive on a pg test. If u are indeed miscarrying today, then the preg hormone in ur body hasn't had time to completely dissapate yet so if u were to take a test today and u were pg or miscarrying then u would still be +. But everyone is different.
What is the type of flow like? is it bright red? do u have any clots or just generally more "junk" then normal? If so that might indicate a miscarriage....Normally what they tell u is that if u are changing ur pad or tampon less then 2 hours each time then that is unusual bleeding.
For what its worth, since being on Gluc there are months when I feel like I have sliced an artery open (lol)
But above all if u just feel as though this is unusual in anyway and u are worried, u may want to visit the ER tonite and make sure everything is ok.
Best of luck

Thank you for your input -- I am still experiencing the same symptoms today (still cramping, lots and lots of flow (bright red) about an ounce every 2 hours) so I called my doctor this morning, and his office wants me to come in for a blood test and ultrasound. I figure regardless of it being a mc or not, it's highly irregular. It is just really odd to me because I hadn't changed my meds (just 1500 mg glucophage since September - no povera nothing else), and hadn't changed my routine at all...and this is such a big big change in my period.
I know the test said I was negative, but I guess the reason I posted was because I really felt pregnant (my body didn't really feel like mine for a few days -- and I felt many of the symptoms -- and my body temp was higher than usual).
Thank you for your support on a very strange Sunday for me.
