Ok, so I had my blood work done almost a month ago and my endo's office was supposed to call me, long story short, they didn't. I ordered copies of my labs so that I could at least see them. I got them today but I'm not sure if they even tested for the right thing. I looked on the making sense of your labs thread, but most of this stuff didn't even show up. Please help me make sense of this...
test result normal ranges
sodium 139 135-145
potassium 3.9 3.5-5.2
chloride 102 95-109
co2 content 28 22-31
glucose 90 70-99
BUN 16 9-20
creatinine .8 .7-1.4
calcium 9.5 8.6-10.2
GFR (MDRD) >60 >60
fasting status 11 hrs
c-peptide, serum 3.5 .9-4.0
any input is very much appreciated.
Amber

I thought that they were testing for fasting insulin because that's the number he used to explain upping the met. I don't see anything that refers to that anywhere. I'm so confused... =(

amber, it looks like what they did is a "basic metabolic panel" or "bmp" (sometimes this is called a chem-7). it looks at your electrolytes and gives doctors and idea about your metabolic and kidney function. the glucose level is normal. everything is within normal limits. i don't see anything that looks like a fasting insulin level. the "90" is your fasting glucose level... maybe that is what your doctor was testing?
