This also happened to me without meds, I was just curious did you used to have this problem before also? I am thinking about talking the doctor into giving me Met so I am curious.

It happened to me before I was diagnosed and put on meds, except I would have it for 2-4 months strait, then go 1-2 months with nothing.

Finally when I was diagnosed this spring, she also put me on Prednisone as well as metformin. I take it for 10 days each month, and on about day 13 it starts in like a normal woman's would and ends in a normal time frame.

I would mention it to your doctor.

In your post you said you have been taking spironolactone. Spiro is known to wreck havoc on your menstrual cycles. I'm on spiro and AF was coming every two weeks. My endo said I had 3 options: go on a very low dose low androgenic birth control bill, stop taking the spiro or just live with constant AF. He recommended option 1 or 2. I went with the first option. I have seem some benefits from taking spiro. My doctor put me on Ovcon 35 and I have regular AF. When I'm ready to TTC, I will have to go off spiro anyway so I can stop taking the BCP.

Consult with your doctor and research all of your options.

Good luck.

I'm on Ovcon 35, and it has not helped to slow the length or amount of my periods down one bit. My periods are more regular, but they are still long and heavy. Any experiences with drugs that can help regulate over active menses and cysts that continue to come even on bc?

I am currently taking 2000 mg met. and 150 mg spiro. When we tried to increase the spiro dosage to 200, I had the same problem. Two to three periods a month with terrible cramps. (Mine have always been fairly regular otherwise). Even though I tried the 200mg for over 6 months, I did not acclimate to it and my cycle did not go back to normal. Once I reverted back to the 150 mg dosage I was fine. My doc just figures I won't ever be able to handle the higher dose without this discomfort.

I know this is an older thread, but I just had to reply... I had posted the exact same problem before with little replies, but I wanted to tell you Kiersten that I have been having the EXACT same problem as you! I am on met and sprio and AF was coming every three weeks. I also noticed the cramps getting worse, with one morning that I was in so much pain that I was on the bathroom floor. I couldn't even cry it hurt so much!!
Now I m getting AF every 15 days and I am going to the DR on Monday. The problem is that I really like the benefits that I am getting from both drugs (obviously not the persistant AF or the pain!!) so I want to see what my options are.
How are you feeling??
