OHSS is the worst thing ever! Anyone else have an experience or tips to share? Mine is from the hcg injection, (we elected not to do the transfer since I wasn't feeling well). I'm so glad we didn't do the transfer - I could not possibly live through another few weeks of this! I am now 1 week past egg retrieval and 9 days past my hcg shot. Does anyone know when this will get better? I heard it only lasts a few days if you're not pregnant, but I'm on my 5th day of pain and I keep thinking "surely tomorrow will be the day my stomach goes back to normal size and I can walk again", but the last 5 days seem like an eternity. I can't wait until this ends!
awww... i feel so bad for you.... i dont have any answers, but i will try to find out. im on my 9th day of injects. can u tell me what u used and how ohss happens?

Thanks - I hope I feel better soon too! I was taking Lupron, Menopur and 112 units of gonal F. The doc said it was a tiny dose of the medications. I felt great up until the point of the egg retrieval. The next day my belly started getting big, then bigger, then bigger. I've missed a week of work already and am starting to feel like I will have to miss another week because my belly is so big I literally cannot fit into any clothes. I look very pregnant, so going to work is just not an option. I've had fluid drained once already, which felt really nice, but the doc doesn't want to drain again because she thinks I'm over the worst of it. I just want to know when I will stop looking so pregnant so that I can get back to work!
oh well im on day 10 and last night the gas just abou drove me up the wall. Iev been w/ DF for 6 yrs and ive never passed gas in front of him so u can imagine my frustrations....LOL

I can relate all too well to what you're going through. I had OHSS several times. Choosing against the transfer was wise... OHSS can become very serious if you become pregnant. Stay off your feet. You don't want your ovaries to twist or contort in the state they're in. It'll resolve in a week or so. Were they able to save your eggs for you? If I were going to do it again, I would do the transfer, have them freeze the eggs and then wait to implant after another cycle to reduce the incidence of OHSS. It seems that thin cysters like us are at higher risk for OHSS. I had quite a time with it. Best of luck to you, and I hope you become pregnant in the near future.

Well I'm very happy to report that after 7 days of feeling terrible, I'm finally starting to get better! Today is the first day since my EPU that I haven't gained any weight. I haven't lost any of the weight yet, but I'm peeing alot, and I suspect that means I'm well on my way to shedding the 12 pounds I gained from OHSS. Hopefully the weight will come off quickly so that I can return to work without looking so very pregnant (when I'm NOT!). We'll skip a month before doing the FET, which should be early July. We've got 8 frozen embroys to work with, so hopefully this will all work out in the end. But for now, I'm just focused on getting my figure back to normal so I can venture outside of my house once again!
OMG this is the absolute craziest thing that has ever happened to me! I go in to the doctor yesterday because I'm still suffering from OHSS and it's been over 3 WEEKS since my ovidrel shot and my symptoms should be gone by now but instead they are getting worse. My doctor said they only way this is possible is if I'm pregnant. If you remember, we did not do a transfer because of the OHSS and we sure haven't BD'd because I've been feeling so horrible, not to mention the fact that my eggs were retrieved weeks ago. Well low and behold, it must have been immaculate conception or something, because honest to God, I am pregnant. I absolutely cannot believe it, my doctor can't believe it, and my hubby can't believe it! After all these years of not being able to conceive, and the ONE time I actually tried not to get preggo because of the OHSS, and it finally happens. So Crazy! I'm happy, but not looking forwards to another few weeks of being sick.
