That won't make me gain weight like Actos, but isn't Glucophage or Glumetza.
My dr. recently took me off Lantus altogether and is putting me on Byetta along with Actos......However, for emergency reasons because of all sorts of medical issues, I'm going to be monitored by a bariatric dr. with an Optifast diet along medical monitoring.
My Bariatric Dr. doesn't want me on Actos because it causes weightgain, however, I've had BAD results with ANYKIND of Glucophage and she wants me on Glumetza. It gives me awful GI issues.
Is there a drug I can take with Byetta, that doesn't cause weightgain besides anything in the glucophage family? I'm really having a tough time here emotionally dealing with two dr.'s that are at odds with each other. It's confusing. I want to lose weight, but I don't want the awful side effects with glucophage....I know that Byetta can also have similar effects and together I'll die an aggrivating death...ok, I'm being a bit overdramatic here, but I can't stand glucophage!
Any hints and help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have...and I'm told Glumetza is also an extended release version as well.
I'm looking for anything thats NOT a type of metaformin that won't cause weight gain....have any other ideas?
Praying someone will have some ideas.

Yeah, they switched me from Actos to Avandia. I may ask to go back on Avandia again for a short time. See what happens then.

My doctor was going to add Januvia to the metformin and found a 2 month sample bottle of Janumet. It's 50 mg Januvia and 500 mg metformin in a combination pill. The GI side effects aren't too bad and Januvia doesn't cause any side effect like that.
