Default Help! I need info!

There is a discussion/thinking going on for me and my friend. She is pregnant, had planned on abortion but now is considering letting me adopt her baby. We both agreed to discuss it with our husbands and research a little and then talk again. What steps would be involved? What sorts of fees? How does she get insurance? I don't think she qualified for Medicaid before, but would it make a difference with her being pregnant? Please help!

She might be eligible for Medicaid now that she is pregnant. If you do a private adoption you will both need attorneys. If you are really interested in this you might want to contact an attorney in your area now. They should have information specific to your state.

Contact an Adoption attorney. You can usually get a free consultation. You will need to get a homestudy. You will need to provide the birth parents with a lawyer as well as your own lawyer. As far as the insurance, I know where I live that if you are not eligible for Medicaid you can apply for a Gold Card, which allows you to seek treatment at various clinics for free. I had a friend do this. She set up a payment plan with her dr/hospital. Good luck!

You will need to check with your state, each state has different laws governing domestic adoption. There might been an adoption lawyer in our area who could answer your questions as well. Good luck!
