I woke up at 4 am this morning with horrible cramps above the belly button. followed with 3 trips to the bathroom and lots of burping (TMI here) but when I burped I could taste lastnight supper!
What can you take when this happens? it is so painfull! it lasted for about 1.5 hours.

I tend to take Pepcid Complete for heartburn, or Gas-X if I get cramps like that. Maalox Max also worked well for me, since it's an antacid with ant-gas ingredients.

If I have had dinner too late in the evening or something that I know is going to make my tummy icky in the middle of the night, I will take 2 tums before bed. It gets rid of the yuck right away, for me.

A friend of mine had similar symptoms for an extended period of time and it turned out that she had achalasia (failure to open) of the cardiac sphincter (circular muscle that regulates the passage of food from the esophogus into the stomach). It is pretty rare; but, I figured that I might as well mention it. Here is one website. You can get lots more through google.

Pink, I really don't want to ask this but are you a smoker? If so this might be part of the problem smokers are at a high risk of indigestion.
Other then that all I can offer is...
My mother gets this all the time and take Gaviscon ( I think you can get it at wal-mart)
worked wonders for her. Her Dr told her it was one the best OTC stuff to take for it.
Don't know if that helps ya or not
