Default Help with lab results

Hey ladies,

Here is another question about lab results. I just started seeing a RE and the first thing he did is test my fasting insulin and gluc. levels.

I was told that they were both high....insulin was 51.5 and gluc was 114. I am taking 2000mg met!! What else can I do...where can I find out what a normal level is??

Any help would be really appreciated..

Those are listing for lab values and info on understanding your lab values. He can raise your Met dosage and/or add another insulin sensitizing drug into the mix. On your part I would work really hard on following a diabetic and/or IR diet. With those levels i would hope that you can get this under control with just diet and I would try hard to do it with diet alone.

Dani, as Stephanie said you have to try hard to get this under control with diet and exercise. If you already have been, and if you are on Met ER (2000 mg is the max recommended dosage for ER, 2500 mg is the max for regular Met), then you might try taking a natural supplement as well. Cinnamon works to control insulin resistance and to lower blood sugar (as well as to lower cholesterol). I am on 2000 mg of Met ER, and when my fasting blood sugars started to inch up again, I began taking cinnamon capsules and that did the trick for me.
