I had a D&C a week ago today - and lost a bit of blood in the process. Well, it's a week later and I am still bleeding, except now instead of being black or brown it is bright, fresh blood. Not alot, but more than I was. Plus I am having cramps and passing clots. . . . should I call or wait and see if it goes away?

Since it was such a long time before you had the D&C - it may be normal for more bleeding. As long as you are not going through more than a pad an hour, it should be OK. If it gets worse (cramps or bleeding) - call the doctor. Your cramps are probably being caused by your uterus shrinking back to normal size.

I had my D&C almost 2 weeks ago and I'm still bleeding. I expected it b/c my dr. warned that I would mostlikely bleed for quite a while even after the D&C. Mine started out very dark and now it looks very red, almost orange color. If you're changing a pad w/in an hour or you have severe cramping, I would call your dr. Otherwise, you can really wait until your follow-up appt. I know that I'm ready for this bleeding to be over as well as I'm sure you are also...

Sometimes they are not able to remove every single little piece of tissue during the D&C, so many women will bleed bright red and pass tissue afterwards. I did, and cramped quite a bit too. The good news is once everything has passed, the bleeding stops very, very quickly. I then had a few days of dark, brownish bleeding without pain, probably old blood just clearing out. I am so sorry you're still going through this. (((HUGS)))
