My Mood: Points: 2,719.61 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,719.61 | Many churches have websites with links on them about their bylaws/beliefs. That could be a start for you. Second - just visit diff. churches, you will know usually the first visit if it is right for you or not.
but i am compelled to say, you need to find a church that teaches straight from the bible. I know that might sound weird, but there are so many churches being formed today, that are deceiving. There are also alot of traslations of the bible being made, to re-word what God says so that it will go along with "their religious beliefs"
You said you wanted to be active in church without the requirement of being baptized or going thru first communion- why? God's word says to be baptized and to receive communion. Our church does not "force or make" anyone do either of these, but if you follow God's teachings, why wouldnt you want to? My son takes communion the first Sunday of every month in his kids service, but if a child doesnt want to or feels uncomfortable , thats ok too -
So it is about searching - searching for what God's word tells you and searching for that special church for your needs. Pray that you find where you belong, and i know God will lead you there! |

ALOT of people go to the Manna church (non-denom) over on Cliffdale. As a convert to Catholicism from a non-denom upbringing, I'd recommend (if you were interested in a Catholic church) to check out St Patrick's on Ireland Dr. Father De Candia (the vicar) is especially wonderful. It is a vibrant, active parish.
The Lutheran church downtown (I think it is St James'? around Morganton Rd somewhere down around Hay St) is pastored by a woman, and there is an Episcopalian church down on Morganton or Cliffdale--it might be down on Raeford Rd, I cannot remember--its also on the way to downtown Fayetteville...
I'm trying to remember some of the other churches. Personally, of course, I'm biased and would suggest you try out the Catholic churches first... ;-)
If you want/need any recommendations on restaurants, used book stores, etc, let me know, k?

Also, there is a great handmade chocolate store there in town--The Chocolate Lady. She was planning on opening a store downtown, right near the center of downtown, and had a small kiosk in the mall, before Christmas (I don't know if it is still there).
I know--probably the wrong thing to tell a Cyster, but we all need a wee bit of chocolate from time to time...
