Hi All I am new to this site but have read many postings..I am soo glad that I now can talk to people like me..I was diagnosed in late Sept 2005 after gaining 35 pds after I had lost 100 pds. I am still gaining it seems like every second..I had my overies taken out Oct4th 2005 after a Hysterectomy in 2003. The Dr said after the surgery that he got all of one but only part of the other and that the cysts would come back. It is now November and they are back on that little part of overy. But lucky for me I have started menapause hot flashes and all anyway...My diabetes is so screwed up the Dr doesnt know what to do anymore and I am on a boat load of medicine..I am so depressed about my weight and none of my clothes fit anymore. I even had a "friend" come up to me and say " Hey you have gained alot of weight watch what you eat hee hee " I went home and cried my eyes out.. I am so embarassed to even go out of the house now.......Any advice would help Tha nks so much for listening ( reading ( Jennifer

welcome to sc. i'm sorry about what your "friend" said to you... that is inappropriate and hurtful no matter what the situation. we are here for you. it is easy to get down, especially in the early days when it seems that nothing is going right. are you on any new meds or treatments? take some time and browse around the boards; there is a ton of information and success stories out there. and if you need anything, feel free to ask.

I'm so sorry you friend was thoughtless. Most people just don't get what we have to deal with. Try not to take her rude comment to your heart. You have enough to deal with.
With regard to your medical issues, have you considered seeking out another doctor for a second opinion? You seem to have a lot going on and, from what you wrote, your doctor doesn't seem to be helping you. Are you seeing a GYN or an Endo? Someone needs to help you find out why you're gaining weight so rapidly, and to help you get a handle on the menopause and diabetes situation.
You might also want to read everything to do with PCOS that you can get your hands/computer on. This will help you understand what is going on in your body and mind, and also prepare you to discuss your concerns with the doctors. There is one doctor who has written about women and their endocrine systems (hormonal problems/PCOS, included) that I found particularly informative - Elizabeth Vliett. I believe she has an office in one of the larger cities in your state. Check her books out and see what you think. It might be worth a visit to see her, or perhaps she can offer you a referral in your area.
However you decide to proceed, good luck. It takes time, hard work, patience, and determination. I've been at this for quite a few years now and I still have to work at it every day. Hang in there and surround yourself with positive people.
I'm so sorry that ur 'friend' said that to u. Unbelievable! (((HUGS))) u sound so like u could do with somebody there for u. Pls PM me if u feel up to talking t/c x

After believing I was going crazy for years I finally have a diagnosis! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 0 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Your story sounds like mine except I had everything removed in 2003.
I am 38 and I still have issues with hormones but mainly from the insulin resistant part of it.
I also have all the symptoms of MS.(Just found this out) I have cronic non stop pain. The doctors don't know what to do with me.
I wish I could exercise like they say you should. But I have problems with pain and just standing.
My menapausal symptoms are better post hysterectomy. I don't have the nasty hot flashes, etc.
I did develope high cholesterol though, that sucks.
I even had a coworker go to my husband and tell him he needs to do "intervention" with me and my weight!! What a shock! It devestated me!
So once I can get a handle on my pain, I will do so much better.
Until then, I pray for myself to stop eating all the bad stuff.
Take care,
Patty

Hi You guys are awesome...I just got a referral for a different OBGYN but now reading your e-mails and reading about PCOD I am thinking I need a refferal for an Endo. Yes I am on tons of meds life Metformin, insulin ect..I went and bought a scale and when I weigh I get really bummed...I would like to start a time line on this site with my weight but I cant figure out how...can anyone tell me??? When I moved to Tx 4 years ago I weighed 330 or so then over the years I lost 100 pds now I have gained 40 pds since Sept and the Dr said it is the PCOS that is causing it. Well I am thinking Thanks for the reason NOW WHAT DO I DO ABOUT IT...I am suppoesed to have another cat scan today because they left a little of one overy left and the Dr thinks the PCOS is still there..I am debating weather or not to go....My last one was very painful and I am worried about this one will say...and is it even worth it...Not sure what I will do but I will keep you posted THANKS for the support...Jennifer
Hi All well I went to the cat-scan and found out the surgean left in the left overy and fallopian tube PLUS the right fallopian tube.....Now my PCP is sending me to a general surgean instead of an OBGYN because I have to have a vertical incesian to remove everything and they need to see what else is messed up in there.....I dont know how this happened and neither does my PCP but I was told I couldnt even wait until after Christmas for surgery..I am sooo mad and sooo scared...now what do I do?? The weight gain and the diabetes and the pain are all reasons to do this I know but Oh I dont want to do this a third time......Any advice??? Thanks you to all of you for your support....Jennifer
I have no advice Jennifer, but your story is just heart-rending I'm so sorry you are having to go through all this hon! ((((hugs))))

I forgot to mention that any form infection or illness will make your diabeties go out of wack. So with all the menapausal symptoms you have, that could be what is triggering your diabetes problems.
Once you get it all out, it may help you get things back under control.
