Question Help me Please!

I was a size 4 when I stopped having my periods. It has been over 10 years since I had one on my own. I am now a size 18 and just got a doctor that seemed to know what was wrong about 2 years ago. However what she did was give me provera then start me on birth control pills. We tried several kinds and they all seemed to make one thing or another worse. One kind made me have migraines, another made me so ill I couldn’t get out of bed, then there was one that made me throw up and nauseous all the time, the last one I tried made me have 7 periods in 3 months. I then lost my job because I had missed so much work, and along with the job I lost my health insurance. I am at a loss for what to do. My self esteem is at an all time low. I hate looking in the mirror and seeing someone who is not me. I also fight with depression and have a lot of headaches and I cant seem to find any energy. Please any advise would help me!

I am so sorry you are going through all this. It is difficult to find the right treatment and what works for one will not always work for the other. Have you had a glucose tolerance test for IR or type 2? If you are type 2 or IR, that could be one reason for no energy. Try going for a little walk, that will gradually give you more energy and in turn make you feel better. Try eating a more healthy diet, that will give you more energy. Don't skip meals and don't eat a lot of junk food. Cut out the sodas and drink lots more water. I hope this helps with the energy. If you start walking, this will help lose weight which in turn will improve your self esteem. Just don't give up, there is hope. I hope this helps you and I hope the best for you.

I walk quite a bit daily. I live in an apt and walk my dog about every 3 hours or so for at least a full block every time. I also tried working out and even became an assistant weight trainer at my gym and still I have seen no weight loss. As far as diet and soda's go I dont drink soda and have tried several different diets. The doctor did many different blood test and said my glucose levels are not in the danger zones (I'm not sure what they are or should be) I have battled this since I was 15 and only within the past 2 years have actually known what it was. At least this site and the posts have given me hope that I may someday have a child. Which has been the sorce of alot of my depression. Thank you for being there! Knowing that I am not alone helps alot.

I wish I knew what to tell you...I am sorry that I can't help you...Believe me, you aren't alone...Have you tried diabetic exchanges or weight watchers? Those are great...I hope everything works out for you and you get the answers you deserve and never think you are alone. There are a lot of great cysters here and maybe one of them will be able to help you. Each one of us have different symptoms and are on different treatments...good luck and I wish you the best.

Looking - Have you tried the IR diet? I highly recommend it and I'm doing about 1 hour of cardio/weights 5 times a week, plus nightly swims. I feel really good and the weight is slowly coming off.

I've been on Yasmin for a few months and haven't experienced any problems. DH has been through numerous meds and Cymbalta is the current favorite with no side effects too.

On a side note, I went to new doc on Friday since DH was paranoid because I didn't have a general physician. She looked at my tonsils and asked about a sleep study. To my surprise, I'll be checked in a few weeks for sleep apnea. It's definitely an energy related issue and I don't know if that would pertain or not.

I hope that you find some help soon.

Looking4Hope,
I want to welcome you to Soulcysters. I'm sorry you're hurting. Please know that we're here for you cyster.

Metformin helped me to have regular cycles, maybe that would be an option for you. It also helped me lose weight.

I also find that I am very fatigued when my depression is at its worst. I take prozac and that helps.

I feel for you,
Hugs
Jenny

My glucose levels are normal too...However, my insulin level is very high @ the 2hour mark (after drinking the sugar drink)...
At one time, I was a size 3-5 (about 14 yrs ago), I now go between a size 12 & 14....
I just started taking Glucophage last week & I "feel" better....My body just feels more balanced....It's hard to explain...
Best of luck!

hey honey"! i know it feels better it took nearly 8 years to get a dx from my doctor (my age went against me - im 22 this year apparently teens dont have pcos EVER)

i put quite a lot of weight on in 2 years (70lbs) which is bad as im only 5ft 3 im still only a size 16 (uk) but my confidence had suffered - i would suggest going on metformin - it didnt work very well for me but it seemed to help my depression! i had so much trouble on bcp i had a 4 month SOLID heavy AF - which my doctor told me was "perfectly normal" uhhuh! if u wanna chat jsut pm me

I'm sorry you are going through all of this.

I don't really have much to say (sorry).

But I just wanted to drop a line and tell you I'm here for you if you need to talk.
