Met/Gluc Hi Fluff,
I would definitely go through a doctor rather than try to buy it on the net. Met has a lot of side-effects that aren't that serious but are very hard to live with - constant nausea, diarrhoea etc. Often these symptoms die down after awhile, but some cysters are never able to tolerate it. But there are more serious side-effects - they are pretty rare - but make it worth seeing a doctor about.
I'd also get tested to make sure you are insulin resistant. Although I've been on met for four years, I had my first glucose tolerance test (GTT) about a month ago. We found out what we expected - that I'm insulin resistant alright - but also that it is very severe. So it's worth knowing this stuff before taking the drug. It's also really useful to be monitored.
As for how much to take, most people seem to start out on 1500mg and then try to work up to about 2000mg or there about. Again, this is something to talk to your doctor about.
Good luck - I hope it helps!
