Default Help!!Newly preg & taking Met & now problems in the bathroom. Any suggestions?

Hi! I have been taking Met 1500 mg now for 2 months and just last week I found out I am pregnant. I have noticed for the past couple of weeks I am now running to the bathroom "exploding" (sorry TMI). Just wondering about any suggestions to help would be greatly appreciated. As we all know, it is so embarassing

THANK YOU

SPRITE!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Boy...we've both been busy since the last time we 'chatted'...i'm so happy for you!!! I just wanted to say i think the hormones have a bit to do with it...i know when i was first pregnant i was extremely 'the other way'...painfully so...i dont know if met would necessarily be the only culprit. But...i find if i over eat the carbs or high fatty stuff on met i'm in trouble. How long will you be on met during early pregnancy? I keep getting conflicting advice...

take care and again i'm so happy for you!

Kim,

It is so good to hear from you!!! Thanks so much for the advice. I just can't seem to eat anything (carbs or no carbs) right now. Actually today I seem I bit on the opposite side.

How are you doing? E-mail me if you have a chance and let me know.

My family dr is wonderful. She said that she doesn't know much about taking Met during pregnancy but said she will go with whatever I want so I am thinking at least the 1st trimester.

Enjoy the Victoria Day weekend!

Default OMG Terri!!

It is great to hear from you!!!! How are you doing?? Thank you for the best wishes, etc. You know what helped me was that I up'd the Met to 1500 from 1000 and took Femara with IUI. Femara is a great drug instead of Clomid.

I also seem to have days with no problems and then (like today! ) I am running to the bathroom praying I will make it in time. I think it has to do with eating enough protein but sometimes I just don't want to eat anything like that. Oh well you knows!!

Good to hear from you and keep in touch.

Becki

Default COOL

femara eh???? I will talk to Dr. Power about that. He put me on met in April. He question girl. How much in Canadian dollars did you spend on the femara and IUI? Or was it covered until your drug plan?
I am soooo happy for you though. That is just wonderful news. I want you to keep us posted ok.

Terri ................. [sending lots of love]

I'm not sure if Dr. Power would give you Femara. I used to see Dr. Feyles at the University Hospital and he wouldn't give it to me. He wanted me to go straight on injectables when Clomid failed so I got a 2nd opinion to Dr. Martin and he has had such great success with Femara. Femara is taken just like clomid but on cd 3-7 and the cost is also the same. IUI weren't covered by my extended health plan and they were $200 at the University Clinic and $175 at Dr. Martin's. If this cycle didn't work, I was seriously considering giving up as (1) we can't afford the costs and (2) it is so stressful but thank god it worked for us.

Congrats! I got pregnant with my daughter on just Met (the first month). I am now on it again and already have my first AF (not ttc right now). I jsut wanted to let you know that I stayed on Met until 20 weeks pregnant and my daughter is fine. I am on it breastfeeding right now as well. I had two miscarriages before my daughter so I really wanted to stay on the Met. I chose to stay on it for 20 weeks because 20 weeks is when its considered viable and they will fight to save the baby. I figured if going off it caused a problem at least I would be at a point that they could do something. Also with my son I had gestational diabetes and really bad pre-eclampsia which resulted in him being born by emergency c-section at 34 weeks. With my daughter I had no health problems at all!

Thanks for the reply, ShawnaMarie! I haven't made a decision yet on how long I am going to stay on the Met but you have given me some info to think about. It makes sense to stay on it until 20 weeks.

Thanks again!
