help! Painful sex...extra 'ridge' of tissue in vagina??

My friend who is 27 years old just had sex for the first time with her DF and was in so much pain she almost couldnt stand it. Now...they only had sex once, b/c they wanted to wait until wedding day (in 2 months) and that one time was a slip-up. SO...they cant exactly experiment to find out if there are more comfortable positions at this time.

Well..she is terrified about her honey moon b/c the pain is so bad. So she went to her gyn and the Dr. did a pelvic and poked around a bit and pushed hard on a place and asked her if it hurt. She said "yes..badly" and was about to come off the table due to the pain. Well Dr. said that it is a ridge of extra tissue back there and is 'totally normal' and she would just have to find more comfortable positions. and then she left the room.

My friend is VERY upset and was considering getting a second opinion, BUT--she is a pharm sales rep and calls on ob/gyn's, so she doesnt want to spread her legs to these people who she takes to dinner, sells to, etc. SO she is in a bind. Does anyone have this, or know what to do? I want to help her but I can't find anything on the internet, so I thought i owuld ask my cystas.

Though I haven't actually had a doctor tell me so, I can tell you that I have had some pain that sounds similar. What I have found to work is to....TMI...spread myself apart as he inserts his penis. It allows him direct contact with the opening and there is no painful rubbing. I have also found doggy style has never hurt but who wants to just have one positional option! Hope that helps your friend a little.
