Ok Im really confused about this because I dont think I have PCOS but my Gyn says I do. I am very thin 5'7" and only 110 lbs. I am not insulin resistant at ALL. And my sugar levels are perfect. NONE of this PCOS stuff even runs in my family. But my testosterone is elevated and I have irregular periods, hair growth, and mild hair loss. Does anyone know what the heck this could be!? And I don't have the massive body hair some of you talk about.
Eveyone's pcos is different...you don't HAVE to be overweight...or have excess hair. For example...I have elevated testosterone, slight IR, no acne, no hair loss, slight excessive hair, irregular painful heavy periods, and cysts...which you don't HAVE to have cysts either... something is clearly off otherwise your levels wouldn't have come back high.
I am going to suggest and you may want to talk it over with your dr that you are too thin and that maybe contributing to your lack of period...
And about it running in your family genetics is interesting that way. Just because no one visibly has pcos doesn't mean that the gene isn't in your family's gene pool and was just suppressed as a recessive trait until you were created and it finally was able to present it's self...
I hope that info was helpful to you ask more questions if you'd like...

Then SOMETHING is causing my testosterone to be high and I don't know what it is. So then I guess weight loss and healthy eating habits wouldn't be that much of a benefit in my case right? Do you think I would benefit from Met?
Met is really more so for the IR and weight loss...you don't need to lose weight so I don't think that it would do much for you. At your current height and weight losing weight would only serve to hurt you more.
SOMETHING is causing your levels to be too high that is clear. WHAT that is could be pcos...I'd say have your dr run a battery of tests to be certain of what has been pushing your levels up.
It isn't always a cut and dry treatment course with pcos you may have some trial and error first.
Were BCP suggested to you?
