Default Help???period is being funny

Okay i know i'm a bit old for being on the teen board. But i have good reason to be over here.

I have a 13yr step daughter, She's a bit on the over weight side. She' got the tummy and no butt.......looks like she's pregnant. Thought i know she's not. She has a very hard time losing weight. But her weight hasn't gone up either. Tonight she mentioned to me that she has only had a spot today and it's the 4th day of her period.......a bit on the concerning side. She's has a 28 days 7day period cycle for about a year now.

Can anyone tell me if this is what they have gone though or had happen to them. I have pcos my self, was just diagnosed last april confirmed diagnosed in feb 05. I've had it for about 10 yrs, i don't wanna see her go though what i did. If anyone can help me out i would really be truely greatful to you

blessed be

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes periods just go away or come heavily. She might even be stressed out. Personally, I had normal-ish cycles for a while, they would venture into bizzaro land for a month (lasting 1 day or lasting two and half months) and then be completely normal again the next time.

I would wait until her next cycle until you decide to do anything. I would get her checked for PCOS immediately. I was diagnosed at 15 and I still went through a lot of pain and crap. If she has it, you want to control it before it becomes a problem.

But truthfully, it's probably some random anomaly-- who knows what our bodies are thinking? If its the same in a month and you still feel worried, get it checked out. Till, then, chill and relax-- no need to add more stress to I'm sure what is already a stressful life.

Sorry for the chill/Zen natureof my advice, I just have a nice 30 page paper due tomorrow and if I'm not calm, I'll be hysterical.

Cheers,

Diane
