Default Help-- really frustrated with BCP's

I posted this on BCP, but I believe here gets more traffic. I'm on Low-Estrin 1/20 and I keep having breakthrough bleeding even if I take it perfectly (within the same hour each day). I was just going to go off BCP's but we're really not TTC until my weight is WAY down (my husband is concerned about my weight and having a healthy pregnancy) because this is such a problem. Last month I didn't really have breakthrough, but when it came time for the placebo week I didn't have a period. I am so frustrated and so tired of randomly spotting (heavily) I'm not sure what to do... I could call my doctor but she will have me finish out the month at minimum. Could this be a reaction of the met and the BCP's? I didn't have this breakthrough (or no period) problem until I started the met. I also dont' crave sugar on the met, but I'm not loosing a whole lot of weight still, even with drastic diet changes. My husband is starting to help me work out (wonderful Marine that he is) today, so I'm hoping that will kick start my metabolism. Sorry this is so long, but I am just so frustrated with this. My friends that are on Met aren't also on BCP's and are cycling on their own and loosing crazy amounts of weight (my one friend lost 45 pounds in like 2.5 months). I don't expect that but I also don't feel like I should be acting like a leaky faucet. Thanks for reading.

If you don't mind getting pregnant by accident with just Met, then by all means, skip the hassle of BCPs.

But if you're not TTC to the point where a pregnancy might not be healthy and disrupt your life, maybe you can try a different BCP? I know the doctors always say all BCPs are the same, but that's so not true. Whenever I had a BTB problem, I just switched to a different BCP and the problem cleared up immediately.

I think it's the pill, honestly. I was on Lo-Estrin for a while back in my teen years, and did fine for a year or so, but then started the BTB. Since you're a bigger girl, maybe the low-dose pill isn't for you (I was surprised to learn there was a weight limit on low dose pills). I'd ask about switching the next cycle to a different pill, or patch, or ring, etc. I really liked the patch.
