    Default Help Soon!

I have been taking Met for 2 years now.I have had bad diarreaha
.But my stomach got used to it.I can't take birth control pills or any hormones as i am allergic to them.So my only salvation is the met.So i kept at it even when i had bad stomach problems.Recently i started feeling very fatigued and my heart beat started going crazy.First i thought i am having potassium deficency.Yesterday night i had fallen asleep and i woke up with my hear going crazy.Thought i was having heart attack and i am only 26!!Then i had severe diarreha.
I went online and checked symptoms and i seem to be having all the symptoms for lactic acidosis.Has anybody had it here.Anyway i am stopping met and talking to the doc soon. But am getting freaked out.

If in doubt, definetly see your Dr and discontinue the met to be safe. Met isn't for everybody but you need to diagnose what is happening to you before you can figure out if it is the met or not. Hope you can get some answers.

There is more info on symptoms etc of LA on the FAQ thread if you'd like to read more.

Also, what dose are you on? Most of the info I have read on LA talks about the majority of people with LA having a dose greater than 2550 mg per day or pre-existing risk factors (like kidney or heart or liver concerns). It would definetly be worth it to have your dose and any possible risk factors assessed.

    Be safe.

Have you been getting liver/kidney panels (b/w) run regularly? I make sure I get these tested every 6 months or so even if the docs forget. Hopefully your tests will shed some light on what is going on and you will feel better soon?

Definitely talk to your doc about this. It may or not be related to the Met. 18 years ago, when I was 29, I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart racing. I called my doc, he told me to go to the ER, and by the time my parents got me there my heart rate was 240. They ran all sorts of tests to rule out things such as a blood clot in the lungs, mitral valve prolapse, thyroid, and heart function. I was hospitalized for three days on a heart monitor. Everything came back normal, and I was diagnosed with supraventricular tacchardia. My doc told me this can happen, especially in younger people, with no known cause. I was put on a calcium channel blocker, which helps slow my heart rate, and have been on it ever since. At one time, my doc had me go for biofeedback sessions to help, but I only went a few times and didn't stick with it. I found out one way to try to break the fast heart beat episode is to bear down (squeeze your abdominal muscles, as you do when you have a bowel movement). I know how scary it feels to feel your heart pounding like that. My doc told me that if an SVT episode goes uncontrolled for too long it can lead to a heart attack. Please call your doc.
