Default Hemoglobin A1c levels...

Does anybody know what the 'normal' range is for an HgA1c? That's the bloodtest they give you that tells you your sugar levels for the last 3 months. Mine was 5.10. Thanks for your help!

I believe it's 7 or lower for a diabetic, but preferably below 6. 4-6 is considered the "normal" range, as far as I remember.

Good A1c number!

Thanks ladies!! Do you think the fact that I was on Glucophage since December could have played a role in that number?? Just wondering...

More than likely it has contributed to the good result, mine has been up and down like a yo yo.. 6.2% has been my best HbA1c so far. My metformin was increased again as last time i had gone up to 7.8% and the dr's prefer it below 7%.. the highest i have been was 8.6%.. heaven knows what it is at the moment ..
