herbal supplements I have only posted here once but I was just cleaning out some papers and things and I found a tiny article thingy I wanted to ask about. Actually it's part of a letter to the editor from a magazine that I don't know the name of.
It's a recommendation of natural remedies from a dr so I was wondering what anyone thought of it, or if they have any more info, or if they have ever done anything like it. I have been on BC and no meds for about 5-6 months and I LOATH BC. It's to slow down my pcos symptoms.
This is the recommendation:
45-75 gm of Soy Protein per day
1-2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds per day
2 capsules of nettle root per day
green tea= 2 capsules of standardized extract for a total of 240 to 320 mg of polyphenols per day
chastetree= 1 capsule of a standardized extract per day
saw palmetto= 2-6 capsules per day
I was diagnosed over a year ago and started out on Glucophage which really did nothing for me. I went to a different dr who put me on BC and I hate it. I've gained some weight and my moods are out of control and I am depressed quite often. I REALLY want to explore alternative medicines. The symptoms I have are, cysts, a few odd hairs in places there should not be hair, some weight gain (mostly in my tummy, but altogether it's about 30-40 pounds more than i should have), fatigue, depression, absence of periods, elevated insulin levels and high blood sugar. I have tried different diets with no luck. I am looking at Syndrome X too because I think that might be huge issue.
Anyway, I hope to be active here and receive as will as give some support. I am tired of feeling like PCOS dictates how I feel in general every single day. I want to take control and I need some help!
I am looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks |
