I've spent three weeks on herbal tablets for PCOS. I thought I'd try the herbal way before going on to prescription drugs. I have to say, I am mightily impressed- althought I have not had a full cycle yet so can't comment on the regularity of my periods.
I am taking Mexican Yam for oestrogen and Shatavari for progesterone. Mid cycle for 5 days I take Pulsatilla to reduce cysts.
Other symptoms have improved too and it seems too much just to be coincidental. My spots have cleared up, so much that I feel confident enough to wear vests with my hair up. It's just a shame the weather in the north of england is really poor at the moment!
They post as many items as you and I think they even post overseas but I'm not 100%sure.
For a 4 mont-ish course you want 2 bottles of Mexican Yam casules and 2 bottles of Shatavari tablets, then 1 bottle of Pulsatilla tablets.
I take Mexican Yam and Shatavari once daily then you take Pulsatilla for 5 days mid cycle.
I'm not saying it works for everyone but it's certainly doing wonders for me! The whole lot comes to £68 which I think is around $100. This may sound a lot, but it's worth every penny.
Let me know if you're thinking of it and we can chat some more about it!
Thank you for your reply,
I still don't know when exactly is my MID CYCLE (since my af is so irregular) so I'll wait for this cycle to be over and then order.

Periods are 5/6 days usually. I'm a bit of a herbal virgin, having only been on the tablets for 2.5 weeks.
Ovulation is a bit of a guess, but the plan is that they regulate you so ovulation detection is much easier.
The improved symptoms seem too much of a coinscidence for it not to be the tablets working. I never believed in herbal remedies over prescription drugs but I have to say, I am a bit of a convert now!
Thanks for listing the remedies and the address, New Cavendish St is around the corner from my work place so I'll pop in and get some Shatavari and Pulsatilla. I've been taking Vitex Agnus Castus, Wild Yam and Dong Quai for years and they have helped to stablise my cycles, although when I'm really stressed my cycles will go hay-wire again.
That's really cool! I have a few friends that live in London. I had to get mine posted as I live in York but the lady on the phone was very helpful. It is quite a strange story how I heard about the remedies.
In 'You' magazine (free with the Mail on Sunday) there's this herbal doctor called Dr Ali and every week he answers someone's question. Everything from Insomnia to Piles! Anyway, about 6 months ago I wrote him an e-mail, explaining my situation and never thought I'd get a relpy. To cut a long story short, he wrote to me saying my letter would be in the magazine in two weeks. He wrote a page of text telling me all about it and it was printed. Most of which I already knew but he did tell me what to do and not do. The main one was NOT going on the pill, which surprised me greatly.
He said that it just masked the problem and the thing to do first was treat it. I was thinking of going on the pill anyway but his words made me decide not to. He also said the usual things- increase green veg, lay off the carbs, make sure you exercise then he suggested the three herbal remedies.
How long have you been taking Vitex Agnus Castus and Dong Quai and what are they for? I've never heard of them.
It's nice to meet someone from england. I've only been registered for a few days and already I've learned so much!
Has anyone taken Saw Palmetto for hair loss? If so, could you please let me know of your experiences, as I'm a little concerned about taking it due to it being labelled for men's health, largely prostrate problems.
I'm currently on Met, so I also wondered if this would interfere with the Saw Palmetto?
I'm taking saw palmetto and vitex for hair loss, i think im on the road to recovery in terms of regulating cycles and energy levels etc, but still workingon the spots and hair loss!
I think i've been taking it for a month or so now, but have been taking very little vitex as it may cause hair loss..i think its a slow process..low carbing definately helped, but still need to work on the spots and hair.. gona try the gluten free, eat right for your blood type and lectin free diets as lectins can mimick insulin etc
Thanks for the info Jo..let us kno how you get on!
