What herbs help with ovulation? I've read about Vitex here - what about any others? I am a little confused though. When I was doing accupuncture, my accupuncturist/herbalist said NOT to do Vitex - that it was a drug that decreases libido and isn't a fertility herb. Also, are there any herbs that help with libido (like giving me one)?
I don't know who you're talking to, but they're wrong. I"ve never heard of decreased libido as a side effect. Maybe some others have experience with that? I could be wrong. And Vitex is absolutely a fertility herb!!! If your hormones are out of whack, then vitex will balance them. That will eventually lead to ovulation, and then a baby. But it takes a looong time to work, so don't get discouraged, if it doesn't happen very fast.
The best thing I can adivse you to do if you're confused is to research it and decide for yourself. Google is a great place to start.
Damiana is reputed to raise your libido but I have no personal experience with it. It is recommended in a number of my herbal books for enhanced fertility.
I have heard that Vitex CAN lower libido but I am guessing it might be in a more balancing way. Personally my libido used to out of control and now it is probably more like a 'normal' person. Either vitex or age or being a mom has balanced it out for me. If you already have a low drive then perhaps the vitex will pick it up a little. Sheri
I have noticed that my CM fertility quality is increasing - which gives me that wet/lubracative feeling down there . . and we all know what that leads to.
I am taking a product called Femaprin that is a combination of vitex and b-complex vitamins. And I really like it.
