Herbs working TOO well? Should I stop?

I started taking a new type of herb combination and this is my second cycle(TTC). The brand is Manitou Herb Company and the name is HRF. The ingredients are black cohosh, vitex, false unicorn root, licorice root, siberian ginseng (which I am not fond of), dong quai, and sarsaparilla. I have been taking it from cd5 to AF. This is in a capsule form taken three times a day. In the past, I have taken each herb capsule separately, without the licorice root, siberian ginseng, and sarsaparilla.

I came home today and found that brown AF was here. So, I figured it up. My luteal phase is almost 14 days. I ovulated on cd11, and here I am starting AF on cd24(23 according to the CPFM). I turned on the CPFM, and it was flashing the M sign at me. I still need to contact the company and see if I can get the instructions again - Dh is going to spank me over that one.

I am extremely flabbergasted! I have gone from a 38 day cycle with no O to a 24 day cycle with O on cd11! I am not sure which I like better!

Should I stop taking the herbs? What if it shortens my cycle even further? The cycle previous was a 25 day cycle, with uncertainty if I ovulated, the CPFM is new to me.

I don't think I'd stop taking it. Sounds to me like it is working for you, but it may take a few more cycles to know for sure. Give it some time.

BTW, what is a CPFM?

CPFM - clearplan fertility monitor. It worked great last cycle! It showed ovulation on cd11(12) and I even had mittleschmertz pain that accompanied the "o".

Maybe you could just cut down on the dose for the next cycle or two and see how that goes.

It sounds like a great plan if you ask me. Remember, the shorter your cycle, the more often you O. But of course that's only helpfull to you if you are TTC.

Sounds like it's working for you if you're TTC! Matter of fact I was wondering where you got them...thinking about trying them myself!

I got the herbs in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the Vitamin Cottage. I know they do shipping, but I don't have the phone number for them. But there is an address on the bottle for the Manitou Herb Company @ 114 Canon Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO 80829. The bottle only has "HRF" on it for the name. It has black cohosh, vitex, false unicorn root, licorice root, siberian ginseng, dong quai, sarsaparilla. It cost $8.25.

I will call my cousin in the Springs and see if she can find the phone number for the Vitamin Cottage for you, maybe you can have them mail it to you.

This is the second cycle I have taken the herbs and I have ovulated on cd13 (today)! Yippee!

Hope somebody else gets to try these! Oh, I don't remember if I mentioned that I also take Glucophage too.

I am so happy to hear the good news about your ovulating !!! I will keep you in my prayers. I have been praying alot lately about what to do... I was on yasmin when about a week ago I got a bunch of horrible sharp chest pains right in my heart. a few weeks before that I was having heart palpatations. I think it was the yasmin. so I stopped taking them. I prayed to GOD asking him what to take... because my pcos symptoms will come back soon, no period ect... and I found your thread. I am going to try what you are on. the herbal formula. I saw you are a christian .JESUS is so good., to say the least... how he guides us so gently to good things. Praise him!!! I belive he led you to those herbal pills. So then I think hes leading me to your thread to try them. Abiding in Him, christian.

Hi, I would consult your herbalist. I currently see an herbalist/accupuncturist who is licensed and well-trained with lots of experience. I think it is important to consult the "experts" before taking half doses etc.

I am taking Pytophase (3 tabs) to get rid of left over estrogens, and 9 tabs of Women's Precious -- a hormone balancing chinese her concoction. It has lots of stuff but don't have the bottle in front of me.

also have been to see a licensed accupuncturists- and i think it might be working. Today I went for a follicle tracking US and they found 2 follicles that were at 10 ml which means that I am reacting to the drugs. I took Letrozole for CD 3-7 and one amp of repronex for days 7 - now day 11. I did not react previously to drugs so I think the alternative strategies are helping.
