Hello all,
My name is Kelly. I'm 31 years old. DH is 33 and DS is 4. I first started showing symptoms of PCOS when I was 16 (irreg. periods, really hairy arms). No blood work done, was simply put on BCP. Had a really weird doc who commented on liking the color of my pubic hair! CREEPY! (didn't ever go back to him).
Anyhow, I have always had weight and body image problems. Was probably anorexic around the age of 11. I was about 5 ft tall and weighed about 68 lbs. (never went to a doc, gained weight after mom's threats to hospitalize me). I've been bulimic since age 18 (sort of have that under control now).
My symptoms have worsened over the years. I have the hairy monkey arms, fuzzy face, acne developed when I turned 29, cysts on ovaries, now have really messed up cycles-even though I'm on the pill I bleed 2-3 weeks out of the cycle, took a while to conceive-luckily did so unaided by docs (lost first baby at 18 weeks pg) conceived my DS 3 months later, you kind of get the picture... Oh yeah, have really really bad mood swings and depression.
I have finally had enough of the switching BCP's, the blood, the D&C's, etc. and have decided to have a hysterectomy and doc has agreed to look into putting me on met to help regulate other symptoms. yeah! We are definately done having children so I'm like get that uterus out of me!!!
I have been working out at "Curves For Women" for about 7 weeks now. I've only lost like 2 lbs, but I have reduced my body fat by a few percentage points so that makes me happy. I actually have muscles in my arms!
