Here I am again, being my own Dr I was doing so well, I had an endo who was right on top of the PCOS and Hyperthyroid, then one day she seemed to vanish.
I couldn't get an appointment, I couldn't find out the results of my regular bloodwork, in fact she stopped ordering the blood tests as soon as everything seemed to be coming into the normal ranges (when I would expect monitering to be more important then ever).
Now I'm back at my own MD who, while he is really nice, wants to check my levels every three months instead of the 2 or 3 weeks I was getting before.
I stopped the metformin for a while on the advice of another Dr (too many cooks eh?) but the hair growth was WAY too much for me to handle, and my hair is coming out by the handful again, it's effectiveness seems to be reducing......
Right now I take 1-500 mg tab, twice a day and am taking it upon myself to up the dosage, otherwise what's the point as it isn't really working at this rate anymore.
Where should I go from here?
The Dr will do the blood tests if I ask but it seems to be up to me to know what I need to look for, I'll probably go up to 1 tab 3x a day, or 1.5 tabs twice. Do any of your Drs do regular blood work? What do they look for, should I be keeping an eye on my sugars (the Dr says I don't need to but naturally I don't trust him).
