Here we go again I was diagnosed with PCOS in Fall '98. My periods were coming at a rate of only once every 9 to 18 months. The doctors kept wanting me to take the Pill to try and regulate things. The only thing that the Pill did for me, no matter which formula I tried, was to make me sick as a dog. I had a couple of jim-dandy anovulatory bleeds in '99. That same year, an ultra sound revealed an endometrial polyp. It was biopsied and the results were negative. At the beginning of '02, a different doctor put me on spironolactone 50mg, b.i.d. x qd.
Success!! The hair on my head stopped falling out. The hair growth on my face slowed way, way down. The acne decreased dramatically. I actually started getting periods once every 5 to 6 wks.
Unfortunately, my cycles have started coming every 3 wks. The doctor sent me for an ultrasound, which revealed some kind of cyst in the endometrium. Now, I'm going to be referred to an OB/GYN. (sorry for the long post. rant now over) |
