Hey everyone. Well im new to this board and thought id say hi and tell you about myself. I'm Amanda and im 16. I guess we always knew something was wrong..Well not always but since i was about 10-11. I matured pretty fast..when i was 11 i was 5'8 and i had developed breasts when i was about 9-10. I also had all my other devolpements, like i needed to shave and had pubic hair all before i was in middle school. I went to my doctor for a physical when i was 12 and she examed me and said i should've gotten my period by then, since my body was devolping so fast and my bone age then was around 17-18 years instead of my real age. But i didnt get my period until a few months before my 13th birthday. On my first period it was extremely heavy and for the next 3 or so months i got them but they were never a regular..then i stopped getting them but its normal for people to be irregular when they first get them. Around this time i sunk into a bad depression. I went to a pysciatris and they diagnoised me with bipolar and other things. They put me on meds that did nothing for me except gain weight..tho i was never thin i was never as big as i am. within 3 months of taking those meds i gained over 50 lbs. I was constantly changing meds then. I saw my real doctor and she told me it sounded like PMDD and put me on a diff meds and it didnt help a whole lot. i was getting worse ..suicidal, a became a self-injurer , and i was having major mood swings. My mom then noticed whenever i went long without a period it got worse. So i went to see another doctor and she forced one with these hormone treatment pills that i took for a week. My periods we're always painful and i had to stay home from school whenever i had them. The hormone treatment worked and i got my period and had to stay in bed during it. I didnt get any after that and the doctors couldn't figure out wat was wrong with me. MY depression kept going on and i was in and out of behavioral places. One day i happened to be searching online and found PCOS and i read all i could about it. Surprisingly i had all the syptoms. A few months after my 16th birthday i went to another doctor who put me on the pill. I got horrible headaches and i had to stop after the month was finished..and it worked , it still was heavy and painful but i had gotten my first period for 10 months. A few months later i saw a different doctor and told her about myself and was about to start on my findings of pcos (the other doctors weren;t really familar with it so pretty much blew it off) but she mentioned it first. She told me she knew from the minute she looked at me. When i told her my story she told me it confermed her suspicions. She diagnosed me with PCOS and put me on a diff bcp. So far no headaches tho its still heavy and painful but not as near painful as it was. Since i started getting my periods (ive only had 2 in a row so far) i have been alot happier and havent thought about many things i had before. I have recently had an ultra sound and i have a few cysts on the inside of my ovaries and my uterus in slightly enlarged (is that normal i no about the cysts but the uterus?). Thanks for listening.

Amanda,
Welcome to Soulcysters. I am glad that you were diagnosed early cause I was diagnosed when I was 32 and I know now taht If I was diagnosed early that I would've been able to take better care of myself. What kind of Birth Control pills did your doctor put you on?

Hi Amanda!
I'm a "newbie" also..I was diagnosed about a week ago but I've suspected that I had it for a couple of months before the actual diagnosis though. At first I was really scared and felt very alone but since my dx I have found that there are alot more of us out there than I expected and this board has been a HUGE help...the cysters on here are much more supportive than my family is..so welcome aboard and things are about to get better for you!!!!!!
