Hey everyone... just thought i'd say hi...
ive been watching these forums for about a year now but have only just registered.
I was diagnosed with pcos when i was 15 and have displayed the classic symptoms all my life
Weight gain (like you wouldnt believe!! 6stone in 4years despite weekly aerobics, yoga and weight training not to mention diests and fasting)
The depression. (it would come on for no apparant reason)
Very fast growing hair (i noticed it especially on my legs)
Excess hair appearing in more places everyday (under chin mainly and lower back)
Pain (along my pelvic bone.. mostly left hand side and extreme pain when my period decided to make a long overdue un announced appearance)
A sudden craving for food.(whether i liked the food or not i HAD to eat or i got the shakes and a crippling headache)
I drink a lot of fluid (somedays only 1 pint but others 10 or 12)
Skin Tags (ive got to the point now where me and my partner give them names lol!)
Xtreme tiredness (enough said)
I have since developed ibs and psoriasis on my body and my scalp
So after all that i was diagnosed when i was 15. (6years ago) was told that i was to do nothing but lose weight and it would ease the pain and hopefully i would 'grow out' of my condition. the only time i was apparantly eligable for treatment was if i was ttc....:/
I found a wonderful and understanding partner after a few less desireable relationships due to my poor self esteem and feeling useless.
my partner and i moved 100+miles away to the seaside so we could concentrate on making a living and have a nice home.
Upon registering at my new doctors they assured me that my notes would be passed on. 2 years later i am still waiting for my medical records. apparantly they have been lost....
I went to my doctor and insisted on a US scan as i have been in a lot of pain recently. My doctor said that because they didnt have my notes i needed to be re diagnosed.. it took me 4years last time to get my first ultrasound!!
I went for my scan on monday (10 july 06) and was told that my left ovary is large but not big enough to meet the criterea for pcos BUT my right one is half the size of my left.
No mention of cysts by the sonogropher but she was a grumpy hag anyway lol!
I am sick and tired of fighting my case because i am not necissarily(sp) a textbook case.
I now have to go back to doctor in a week to discuss my results where she will probably tell me to lose weight and come back in a year.
my partner and I are desperate to start trying for a family but do not want to run the risk of heartache if we conceive then miscarry all because the doctor refused to prescribe something that could help.
Sorry about the moan. i just needed to get it off my chest
anyway i look forward to chatting with you all
