Default Hey im new!

Hi
Im new to the board but not new to diagnosis ( was diagnosed 6 years ago) however im new to the issue of Insulin resistantsy. My consultant hasnt been particularly helpful and i have no idea how to change my diet, what not to eat ect, ive tried searching on the net but all the info seems to lead to a site offering pills, which i don't want to take. I'm currently taking Metformin but am yet to see any difference so i wondered if any one could give me advice on what to do, mainly regarding diet.
oops before i forget, ill introduce myself, im stacey from the midlands Uk.

My doctor told me basically to watch my carbohydrates. I try and limit the carbs in foods that really provide little nutrition (pasta, bread, etc.) compared to the carbs in fruits and vegetables. Cut out all sugared drinks, and find an artificial sweetener that you like and that agrees with you. A lot of it is trial and error, and it will take you awhile, but you will basically be trying to eat as if you had diabetes. It's actually pretty healthy, and you will probably lose weight. Keep asking questions and we can all get through this together.

Hi Stacey! I'm new too! I was diagnosed about 8 years ago and am also on metformin. I found this site while trying to find help with losing weight. I've started taking omega-3 essential oils today. I am really hoping to find some motivation/accountability for adapting a lower carb lifestyle. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the carb/sugar cravings? Thanks!

Hi, I'm new also. I've just recently been diagnosed and immediately started the Insulin Resistance Diet. So far it's been easy (except for those occasional cravings), and I have already seen results.

Sugar free jello! Or try sugar free instant pudding with half and half. Makes it thick like a mousee and loooooow carbs! Hope this helps!

Also new.... I haven't started a new diet yet. I have my first dr. appt. on Friday. I'm so concerned about going low-carb. Of course, those are the things I crave. How do you get through it?
Thanks
