i'm new here. i really love this site. my name is jen. i'm 26. i have a 4.5 yr. old daughter and a super supportive husband.
i'm undiagnosed with pcos, but both myself, and my primary care physican feel that i have it.
i have lots and lots of questions about it all. such as, she's also my ob/gyn (i go to the doctors thru my college), would she be able to prescribe me clomid and metaformin? do i have to see an endocrinologist?
this is all really new to me. i have always had really irregular cycles, and in high school i had multiple ovarian cysts which my doctor said i could do nothing about except let them burst. (i hated him then and i still do). although luckily i got pregnant on the third try with my daughter. afterwards i got really sick from pancreatitis and have been unable to get pregnant ever since.
my dh and i have been trying for the past year and we have nothing to show for it except funtime memories.
i meet a lot of the symptoms, weight gain without being able to lose it, facial hair, skin tags, no periods, or random heavy bleeding, acne.. the list goes on. to be honest, i could careless about all the other things, i just want another kid. to me the rest is just all an inconvience. well, except for the lack of periods, because i never enjoyed those at any point of my life.
i've had a referral faxed to the hospital here so they could set up an appointment. i was told it'll take a month for them to even get back to me. the waiting time is killing me. we lack insurance so the hospital has a sliding scale payment method which i why i chose that route. but i may end up saying 'screw it' and paying out of pocket for a private practice doctor. my goal is to be pregnant by xmas.
i hope this wasn't to much info for an introduction. thanks for being here and being so supportive towards one another.

Welcome to sc! You're gyno is able to prescribe both, but whether she will is a different story. But I think your first step is taking her info on what type of blood tests she needs to run in order to get the dx. And then discuss your treatment from there. There are tons of sticky's at the top of the Newbie Issues that would be very helpful for both you and your dr.
