Hi, I am need of help. Okay, here is the situation. DH and I need to come up with $405 today t opay rent, or else the three of us are out! I'm not asking for money, but, does anyone have any ideas where I could make some quick dough??? DH will bring home about $350, he had a bad work week. He's a carpenter, and when it rains, he's out of work. So, any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sometimes when I get in a pinch I take out a payday loan- they charge a flat interest amount and you pay back the loan plus the fee with your next paycheck. Good luck! Being in a bind is no fun!

I'm sorry to hear about your situation - I suppose that you can't borrow the money from anyone? I've used the checks that credit cards send before that have a low rate, but make sure that you pay it off ASAP if you do that unless the rate will not increase over time.

Payday loans are high interest short-term loans. They're extremely risky as the interest is HUGE and the pay-off is generally significantly higher than what you borrowed. They're controversial because many people take out the loans and then can't pay back the astronomical amount they owe. Still, given your situation, it may be the best thing - just be sure you have a plan for repaying.

Whenever my brother was short on cash, he'd sell his cd's and dvd's. Don't know how many you have, but you might want to look around and see what you have that maybe you don't really want anymore or that you are going to be ok parting with (cd's, dvd's, books...) I REALLY don't recommend the payday loans. Back when I was much younger, I took one out because I needed the cash. I had to pay $20/week on interest because whenever payday came around I didn't quite have enough to pay it all off. That went on for several months. I ended up paying more in "interest" than I initially borrowed. Look at all your other options before that!
Listen to barneyb. Just be careful of the payday loans, okay? Pay it back ASAP. The interest accrues really quickly, and it is really expensive. If you can't pay it off, the debtor will take your assets (car, etc.) to cover the loan.
Can you pay any of the rent at all? If so, would your landlord accept partial payment now if you promise to pay within so many days, like when you get your next paycheck? I know it's a long shot, but you never know.
Good luck - i'll be thinking of you. I've been in similar situations, and I am confident that you'll get through it.

We have to pay the whole thing. We were two weeks late on rent once, and we were taken to court, and we had to sign a contract saying that we would pay by a certain time, and if we are late, we have three days to move. It's a real sucky situation. No margin for error. I have a few c.d.'s i'm willing to part with, but how do I sell them?

If you are a member of a church or any religious community, sometimes they will help families that are in tough financial situations, in emergency situations like yours.
Best of luck to you... trust, and you will find a solution...

Sometimes I've heard of people giving blood or plasma.
The Social Services office in your area may have an emergency fund especially if you have children.

The payday loans I've used (Quick Cash is the place I go to) charge $15 for every $100 you borrow- and it's due with your next paycheck- up to 14 days later. It's a flat rate of $15/$100 and doesn't go up- but it's due when they say it's due. I don't like using them and make it an ABSOLUTE last resort.
I would try an agency like ACTS (not sure if you have one there) Salvation Army, and some churches- around here they help a lot of people pay their utility bills and such, so maybe they could help you, too. You could also take some old clothes to consignment shops and see what you can get for them
