Hi Hi, everybody. I'm 26 years old, mum to 3 children, Xander 3 and a half, Lily 2 and Caleb 1.
Basically, I've suffered from low iron levels for a few years now and been on and off iron tablets. About a month ago, I fainted, and put it down to low iron levels. Got sent for a blood test, and wound up only just getting the time in between kids to actually return and get the results.
Aside from the confirmation that my iron levels are low, I would up being told that there's a real possibility that I could have PCOS. As not only is my iron low, but my hormones are all over the place and Diabetes was mentioned.
So I went for yet another blood test today, given that the last test was a month ago, and to check for the male hormone levels. So I'm hoping to know the results one way or another by Friday.
However, now that I know its a "strong possibility" some things do make more sense, symptom wise.
-Heavy periods (never in my life have my periods been as heavy as they are after Caleb was born)
-Erratic periods (been charting my periods since my eldest son was born. They returned 8 months later, and had been regular from that point on, until 3-4 months ago, when my period was two weeks late. Was not pregnant. Next cycle 2 weeks late, not pregnant and latest cycle was 10 days early.
I've been trying to research PCOS and pre-diabetes/Type 2 diabetes, given that one of the symptoms of PCOS is Insulin Resistance... but it feels like I'm turning in circles.
I know they say, not to self diagnose, but its one of those "maybe" situations where it might turn into a reality.
Also is there any real facts that PCOS is genetic? I believe my mum may had suffered from PCOS, I can't be 100% sure as she passed away a little over a year ago, but she did have fertility issues/heavy periods from her teens and did go through 8 years of infertility before using fertility treatments to conceive me and my sister.
Thanks. |
