Welcome! You have a found a great website with lots of cysters to help you. I also take Glucophage ER (twice a day), and I have none of the side effects as of yet.(been on it nearly a year now).
My first suggestion is to go see your regular Gyno and have them refer you to a good Reproductive Endocrinologist. He/She will be better equiped to deal with your situation then a regualr Gyno. If you don't feel comfertable taking the new medications, just wait to see your doctor. It won't hurt you to wait. Good luck to you though!

I had a hard time deciding whether or not I wanted to take Met because of the 5 other meds I'm taking. But, I weighed the risks and decided that my blood sugar is too high, my body is depositing my insulin as fat and I am going to get real sick real quick if I don't at least take the Met.
It's a crappy to have to make that decision. Good luck.
I'm glad you found this place. It's made a world of difference in my attitude about my health.
It is unlikely you have diabetes. Your doctor would have said something about that.
I have been on Metformin for over two years now. The first couple of weeks I had some side effects...but they have since passed.
The metformin didn't work for me alone. I had to add a exercise routine to it. The doctor that dx me with it didn't give me a lot of info about PCOS. I would find another one that will take more time to explain things to you (or is more knowledgeable). This website is a great resource too!
For some it helps with weight loss because it can cause a lack of appetitie.
Good luck!

I'm newish to PCOS as well. I was diagnosed back in August and have been taking Glucophage and Yaz since then.
However, I am just now starting to learn about the disease and take control of my situation.
I also take two medications for Asthma, but I truly believe that part of my Asthma issue is my weight. Also, I know that if I take my meds for PCOS and work hard, I will lose weight and my asthma will get better.
Please stick with it. I've lost almost 20 pounds just taking my medication, not changing anything but taking the meds. I am also having less anxiety and heart palpitations.
I can only encourage you to see a good reproductive endocrinologist. Mine is amazing and I truly thank him for his help and guidance. Without him, I think I would have driven myself crazy by now.
