Default Hi, can anyone please help me? im new.. and idk if im taking the right medicine!

okay so I was diagnosed with PCOS a year ago actually. Im nineteen years old and a college student. I dont have too many of the symptoms of PCOS, but i never get my period. So my doctor told me to take Prometrium (I think its the lowest dosage) 12 nights a month to have m period. Ive been taking it for a year, although Ive skipped months. Will this help me be able to have me period without it one day if I take it every month? Will I be able to have kids one day? because I really want too. Will my symptoms progress, and I develop the ones I've read about like excess hair, acne, weight gain, etc? I need some help.

Hi- I'm new to this site but have had PCOS for a few years. I don't know if I will be able to help, but I was wondering if your doctor diagnosed you with PCOS or if you have an underlying condition causing your lack of periods. I'm not sure about the prometrium, it's a progesterone only pill. I take regular contraceptive to control my periods. I've been reading a lot about PCOS lately and what I can tell you is that if PCOS is the cause of the period irregularity, then the possibility of pregnancy is very good. Minimizing the impact of PCOS on your body by controling insulin resistance (eating health, exercising and maintaining a healthy weight) is key, although the weight control can be difficult. I just finished the book "A Patient's Guide to PCOS: Understanding and Reversing polycystic ovarian syndrome" by Dr. Futterweit, which I found answered a lot of my questions and it's only about $15.
~Wishing you well~
