Default hi, everybody new here!

been reading about this topic for a while, I suspect i too suffer from this even do not comfirmed. diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high bloos pressure, cholesterol, and to top it off doctor checking elevated liver enzymes. mentioned pcos to my doctor and he just blew me off. he said pcos wouldn't have caused my diabetes. wondering who I would have to talk to to get answers.

Do you have a gyno you could talk to? Maybe someone who deals more with women's reproductive issues would be more understanding/informed?

Welcome! I hope you can get all the answers you're looking for here.

My PCOS caused my IR Type 2 D - I am on Met now and it has made all of the difference. Lost 14 pounds / 34 inches in a month and a half.

There are five different types of PCOS ...

http://www.wdxcyber.com/dxinf001.htm

Stein-Leventhal syndrome, polycystic ovaries, sclerocystic ovaries, polycystic ovarian disease, PCOS, PCOD, PCO, anovulation with hyperandrogenism

# traditional PCOS -- anovulatory, increased androgens, no insulin resistance
# endocrine syndrome X -- anovulatory, increased androgens, insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes
# non-traditional PCOS --anovulatory, normal androgens, obese, insulin resistant or type 2 diabetes
# non-traditional PCOS -- ovulatory, increased androgens, mild insulin resistance
# idiopathic hirsutism -- ovulatory, increased androgens, no insulin resistance

Make sure you get a doctor that well help you. Even if it means changing doctors several times!

Welcome to SC! I agree you could try to find a gyn or perhaps an endocrinologist who could help you get your diagnosis. I really hope you get the answers you need!

Big Hugs to you! Doctors can be such a pain sometimes, can't they?

UGH!

Knowledge is power...the more you know the more you can help yourself.

I agree with Heather - find an endocrinologist!
