Hi folks. I was diagnosed last month with PCOS. Here is my story so far.
I am 32, and mom to 2 boys, ages 6 and 4. Never had trouble getting pregnant. Never had trouble carrying the pregnancies. Fairly easy births - #1 was C Section due to fairure to progress. #2 was unmedicated VBAC.
Fast forward to 1 year after giving birth to Son #2. I weaned him and a few weeks later got my period back. It came and Never left. 7 months of trying meds and other therapies resulted in a partial hysterectomy. After I got over that and the idea of never having more kids everything was hunky dory. Went on atkins and lost 50 lbs. I am still a good 40-50 lbs over where I should be. Weight has stayed the same for 2 years. DOesn't matter what I do nothing helps me lose.
THis year I had a 4 cm fibroadenoma with stypical cells removed from my right breast. At my followup the doc asked me about the hairy face, inability to lose weight, acne and incredible horniness I was experiencing. He said, lets look at your ovaries to see whats going on there. He said the right one looks fine, but the left is VERY polycycstic.
I just started my 3rd week on Metofrmin. I am now up to 1500 mg a day. Still dealing with tummy issues, but its getting better.
THank you for this great site. It has been very infomative.
